Nigeria's finance minister Adeosun appointed into investment and pensions fund committee in the UN

The appointment of Kemi Adeosun is to resume from Monday, January 1, 2018- She will hold this position for a year, according to Under-Secretary-General of United Nations Jan Beagle. Adeosun was also welcomed to the new position by UN Secretary-General on the Investments Committee of the UNJSPF, the appointement by the United Nations is into the investments committee of its Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) .Premium Times reports that the Under-Secretary-General of United Nations, Jan Beagle confirmed Adeosun’s appointment and disclosed that the minister would serve a one-year term in office effective from January 1, 2018.Beagle said: “On behalf of the Secretary-General, I have the honour to inform you that at the 55th plenary meeting of the seventy-second session of the General Assembly, the General Assembly decided to appoint you as an ad-hoc member of the Investments Committee for a one-year term of office, beginning from 1st January, 2018.

The UNJSPF provides pension, death, disability and the other related benefits for staff of the United Nations and the other organisations admitted to membership in the Fund. It was established through UN General Assembly resolution 248 (III) which came into effect on the January 23, 1949 after it was passed in December 1948.
